Meet this stunning teaching assistant whose undiagnosed Crohn’s disease caused her weight to drop to FIVE-STONE leaving doctors convinced she was anorexic

***EXCLUSIVE*** Teaching assistant, Bethany Gallagher (23), from Sheffield, UK, was only 15-years-old when she began experiencing severe acid reflux and despite being given anti-acid medication by her doctors, the symptoms got progressively worse. A month later, she started having abdominal pains and she was in so much pain she had to drop out of school, as the pain got worse. She threw up regularly and had to go to the toilet over forty times a day, she couldn’t keep food down and the thought of eating terrified her. Within a month, she lost 3st and her weight decreased to just 5st and a UK size four, which prompted her GP to think she had anorexia and was told to put on more weight. Following regular trips to the hospital for tests, colonoscopies, endoscopies, biopsies, MRI scans, CT scans and camera tests, she was finally diagnosed in 2010, when she was 16-years-old, with Crohn’s disease, a lifelong condition in which parts of digestive system become inflamed. In April 2017, she got a loop ileostomy, which is where the end of the small intestine is cut and joined with the large intestine. Half a thread of it goes through the abdominal wall and a bag is attached on top which is where faeces will come out of it. She has since received various treatments to help reduce her symptoms and has had a lot of support from her family and friends, including her boyfriend of 10 years, Mike, who has stood by her side throughout her journey since they first started dating in 2009. She is now a healthy 8st 7Ibs and a UK dress size 10.

Iowa woman listens to dead son’s heart in Ohio man’s chest

DAVENPORT, Iowa: An Iowa woman whose son died from a drug overdose has had a chance to hear his heart beat again in the chest of an Ohio man who received it as an organ donation. Lisa Bragg met Friday in Davenport with Kenneth Vogelsong, of Sherwood, Ohio. She and family members put a stethoscope to Vogelsong’s chest to listen. Bragg’s 27-year-old son, Markus Abbott, died in January, and his heart was transplanted in Vogelsong. With the help of donor networks, Bragg and Vogelsong exchanged letters, emails, and texts and agreed by phone to meet. Vogelsong is a is a 45-year-old father of four who was close to death because he had an enlarged heart that couldn’t efficiently pump blood to other organs.

Decapitated skeletons of children, 10, found at 2,000-year-old Roman burial site in Suffolk

***EXCLUSIVE*** Archaeologists have uncovered a rare collection of decapitated skeletons that are up to 2000 years old while excavating a Roman burial site in Suffolk.A total of 52 skeletons were found, 17 were decapitated with their heads placed between their legs. The discovery was made during a dig in Great Whelnetham, near Bury St Edmunds. Including men, women and a couple of ten-year-old children, the decapitated skeletons make up to 40 per cent of the recorded graves on the site - a "very high percentage". According to archaeologist Andrew Peachey, the remains are not the result of executions.

She began her first round of IVF in July 2017 and has since become physically active by running four-times-a-week after re-joining Slimming World; which she originally joined in the run up to her wedding when she initially lost one-and-a-half-stone.

The incredible images, as revealed by the website Retronaut, show ‘human flies’ on the giant crane on the site of the new skyscraper in St James’ Park, high above the Victoria Tower of the Houses of Parliament. Other striking shots show ‘ironfighters’ at work on the new skyscraper high above the capital and the skeleton of the great underground building which reared its head into the clouds at Westminster. The remarkable pictures show workmen busy high above London on the construction of the new underground headquarters at St.James's Park, which, when completed was the tallest building in London.

Greedy rare bird eats every last berry at supermarket car park

Excited photographers dressed from head to toe in camouflage can be seen pointing their huge cameras at the small lone tree outside the supermarket to capture a waxwing eating. Even shoppers curious about what the commotion was whipped out their smartphones to take pictures and joined the huddle which crowded the car park.

Wombat baby

***EXCLUSIVE*** A baby wombat looks nice and snug whilst nestled between it’s mother legs as its parent feeds on grass. Matt Wright, 33, from Queensland, Australia, was taking part in a wildlife tour at the time and reacted quickly with his camera when he saw the baby wombat, known as a joey, peeking out of its mother’s pouch. Matt said: Wombats are unique mammals that have backwards facing pouches. Wombats dig burrows to sleep in so this stops dirt from entering the pouch. Joeys leave their mother’s pouch at around 6-8 months of age.
