Frock of Ages: After Jennifer Lopez recreated her iconic 2000 Grammys look, reveal Kate Middleton, Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep have also worn the same outfit decades apart

Most of us are grateful if we can still fit into a favourite dress a year after we bought it — never mind nearly 20 years later. And when the dress in question is little more than a silk scarf with only a decorative brooch to protect your modesty, even women who have counted the calories and made the most of their gym membership might be forgiven for never going there again. Not J-Lo. The actress and singer took to the Versace catwalk at Milan Fashion Week in the iconic green silk chiffon dress she last wore to the Grammys almost two decades ago. In fact, this was an even more revealing remake of the original piece — sleeveless with extra cut-outs. Best of all, as a 50-year-old mother of twins, she looked better now than she did back then at 30. And she’s not the only celebrity stepping out in styles we saw them in decades ago.

Rita Moreno: 56-year gap

At the 2018 Academy Awards, actress, singer and dancer Rita Moreno, now 87, donned the black-and-gold gown she had last worn to collect her Best Supporting Actress gong for her role in West Side Story back in 1962 — 56 years earlier.

Meryl Streep: 30-year gap

Nominated for The Deer Hunter at the 1979 Oscars, Meryl Streep wore a black dress with flouncy sleeves — and brought it out again for the 2009 Baftas.

Cher: 28-year gap

Princess Anne: 27-year gap

Jennifer Lopez: 20-year gap

Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez caused a sensation when she appeared in a daring Versace jungle-print gown at the Grammys in 2000. She’s still making waves today in the updated 2019 version.

Anna Wintour: 13-year gap

U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour wore the same floral embossed structured jacket to a photography exhibition in 2002 and to the British Fashion Awards in 2015, proving that true style never dates.

Queen Letizia: 8-year gap

It might seem that when you are a queen, you may not keep track of the dresses. However, the woman of the royalty of Spain thinks otherwise.  Letizia, in February of this year, attended a dinner in honor of the president of Peru and his wife in the same dress that shined in Westminster Palace 8 years ago, on the eve of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Geri Halliwell: 7-year gap

Geri appeared for the first time in a litmus dress at a party in honor of the Oscar ceremony in 2002. After 7 years, she wore it again.

The Duchess of Cambridge: 6-year gap

The Duchess of Cambridge donned a chiffon and lace Jenny Packham design at a London 2012 Olympics gala and looked as dazzling in the same gown six years later at the Tusk Conservation Awards.
