A woman almost lost her leg after being bitten by an unknown bug whilst on holiday in Benidorm

***EXCLUSIVE*** Faye Wilkes, 41, was sunbathing by the pool when she felt a sharp nip and she swiped a bug off her left foot. A red mark instantly appeared, but the personal assistant, from Dartford, Kent, thought nothing of it and spritzed herself with insect repellent to prevent further bites. It was only when Faye realised that she was unable to walk four days into her trip - that she started to worry. Faye's whole leg then swelled up to the point she couldn't put any weight on it and she claims she got turned away from a hospital in Spain as medics thought she was a 'typical drunk Brit'. The mum-of-one cut short her family break - flying home after four days - to seek medical help in the UK after her leg blistered and started to become infected. Upon arrival at Gatwick airport, she was rushed into East Surrey Hospital - where doctors told her she had contracted a flesh-eating bug - likely from a spider bite and if left any longer she may have been forced to undergo an amputation. After being pumped with seven different antibiotics and spending over four months in intensive care, the infection cleared up on its own - but Faye is still traumatised by the ordeal and is recovering from the holiday nightmare at home. Faye said: "We recently lost our dad, Raymond, 66, to lung cancer and to cheer ourselves up, unwind and relax my sister, Carrie, and I booked a holiday.

Incredible holiday snaps of a British couple’s caravan trip across Africa in the 1934s have emerged

***EXCLUSIVE*** Because as well as taking more than 100 photos showing them meeting native people and battling through desert sands, the animal lovers appear to have returned with a monkey.  Pictures taken after they came back to England show the couple with a monkey in a garden in what appears to be an ordinary British street.  But it was far from an ordinary holiday when Mr and Mrs Fuller set off from Dover on the trip of a lifetime across the Sahara and French Equatorial Africa in a Chevrolet Eccles motor caravan accompanied by their maid.  Consequently, they documented the trip every step of the way. A photo album containing more than 100 images and a postcard album packed with vintage cards from locations passed en route have been found by Hansons Auctioneers together with a newspaper cutting about the trip.  The albums will go under the hammer on October 22.
