These celebrities work normal jobs just like everyone else

Stardom does not last forever for most people who earn a little fame. It is not very common that people stay very famous for their entire life. Only very few people get the fame status of legends that they keep forever. Some stars have one spot in one movie or just one hit on the radio, and then they are gone having to turn to their regular lives like everyone else. People need to make a living somehow, so it is not weird to see a former star working in a not so glamorous scenario like a coffee shop or a store. These normal jobs are sometimes really far fetched from the fancy life of Hollywood, but many times, these people also stay in the vicinity of careers in the entertainment business just in a different position. Some people may think these stars gave up on their entertainment career to easily and just moved on to a more normal life. What is not always understood is that these people have a very hard time making an impact in the industry, so they just have to find a different option to make end’s meat. From sitcom actors, you love to child prodigies. These are former stars that are working normal jobs like all of us.

Julia Stiles – Stay At Home Mom

Julia Stiles hit Hollywood hard, with her first television appearance in 1996 in the hit movie I Love You, I Love You Not, next to her co-stars, Jude Law and Claire Danes. Probably her most memorable role is that of Kat, the sarcastic and cynical high school senior in 10 Thing I Hate About you. While Stiles hasn’t completely left the acting scene, she has considerably lessoned her television appearances to raise her son, Strummer Newcomb, this past October (2017).

Jennie Garth – Business owner

Although we all know her name is Jennie Garth, we can’t help but call this actress Kelly Taylor – because she will always be one of our favorite Beverly Hills 90210 characters (we love you, Kelly). A few years ago, Jennie appeared in the modern take on the show before leaving her acting days behind her for a more business-centered career. In 2017, she launched her own project called MomGiftBox.com where she makes and sells pamper boxes for hard-working moms.

Geena Davis – Activist

You probably know Geena Davis from hit films and television shows like Beetlejuice, Stuart Little, and Grey’s Anatomy. Although she’s been acting up until 2017, Davis is a brand new addition to this list, as she decided this year that she was going to officially leave Hollywood to start her own foundation called The Geena Davis Institute. The foundation’s primary focus is to promote gender equality in the media.

Sarah Michelle Gellar – Entrepreneur

We all wanted to be Sarah Michelle Gellar when we were kids. She got to hang out with vampires and werewolves, and she was always kicking butt. Although Gellar got her first acting gig in 1993, she truly rose to fame for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She left the limelight soon after but is still an inspiration. In recent years, Sarah Michelle Gellar has founded a startup that produces and sells baking kits for children.

Tony Danza – English Teacher

Tony Danza was one of the biggest names of the ‘90s. He starred in popular shows such as Who’s The Boss? Taxi, and The Tony Danza Show (naturally). He took a break from the world of acting between 2009 and 2010 to embark on a new TV project – where he became an English Teacher. Yep, the actor took part in a TV show called Teach: Tony Danza, which followed the lives of teachers at the Northeast Philadelphia High School.

MC Hammer – App entrepreneur

STOP, HAMMER TIME (cue MC Hammer dancing). Of course, we all know MC Hammer and his hammer pants, and he is still one of the most famous names in the business. However, he’s no longer singing and dancing but has found himself a normal job – well, as normal as it can be for an internationally recognized rapper. Nowadays, Hammer works as a new media app entrepreneur and sells his products in Ivy League colleges. Not bad, ey?

Tom Selleck – Avocado Farmer

Tom Selleck was a huuuuuuge Hollywood and TV actor, starring in the likes of Magnum P.I, Friends and Three Men and a Baby. Alongside his passion for acting, Selleck also has a passion for avocados (as you do), which he made a reality. Now, he lives and works on a 60-acre avocado farm in California. This has made our day.

Steven Seagal – Deputy Sheriff

Does this even surprise you? Steven Seagal has always been one pretty epic son of a gun, and not the kind of guy you’d want to mess with – and there’s a reason for that. In the past, Seagal worked as a Deputy Sheriff in the Doña Ana County area in New Mexico in between acting jobs. He has previously specialized in border control and is even brought in to train the newbies now and then. How cool is that?

Rita Wilson – Writer

Let’s be honest, even though Rita Wilson is no longer in the spotlight as an actress, she’s still not far away from the bright lights and the big city – considering she’s married to the one and only Tom Hanks. After leaving the acting world behind her, Rita Wilson found solace in the written word and is now a writer for some of the biggest names in the world of online publications, including Harper’s Bazaar and Huffington Post.

Mara Wilson – Writer

We all remember watching Matilda when we were younger and being jealous over the fact this little girl was able to move things with her mind (it’s just so cool). Mara Wilson was the star of the show and even appeared in other major movies of the ‘90s, including Mrs. Doubtfire. However, Mara really took something away from her role as Matilda and is now a serious book lover – so much so that she is now a full-time writer.

Freddie Prinze Jr – Chef

If you grew up in the ninetees, there’s no way you haven’t heard of Freddie Prinze Jnr. This acting legend starred in some of our favorite teen movies, including Scooby-Doo, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and She’s All That. After leaving the world of acting (with his brand new wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, in tow), he released his own cookbook. With Sarah doing the baking and Freddie doing the cooking, we bet their house smells divine.

Frankie Muniz – Race Car Driver & Drummer

Frankie Muniz is the ultimate child star – and we loved nothing more than to coming home when school was over and watch Malcolm in the Middle. However, like many child stars, Frankie’s stardom fizzled out after the late ‘90s and ‘00s, and he began to search for a new passion and career path…or track. Yep, Frankie Muniz is now a professional racecar driver. As if that wasn’t random enough, he also used to be a rock drummer.

Dylan Sprouse – Brewmaster

You probably recognize this adorable little guy as ½ of the twin acting duo, Cole and Dylan Sprouse. The twins made a name for themselves in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Big Daddy – but took a step back from the limelight as they got older. The pair went off to college, and his brother Cole returned to the world of acting after he graduated. Dylan, however, decided he wanted to open his own brewery. As you do.

Lucy Liu – Visual Artist

Lucy Liu began her acting career in the early 90s, her defining role being on the television series: Ally McBeal. She uses a pseudonym, Yu Ling, to sign her artwork, and donates a lot of the pieces to charity.

Vanilla Ice – Real Estate Agent

If you were lucky enough to live through the days of the Vanilla Ice heyday, you probably still know all of the lyrics to ‘Ice Ice Baby’ (go on, you can admit it). It’s fair to say that Vanilla Ice was a bit of a one-hit wonder – but that one hit made him millions. After hitting the jackpot with his iconic song, Vanilla Ice used the money to invest in property, and flip houses to make a profit.

Gene Hackman – Author

Although he was deep into acting from the early 1960’s, by 2004, Gene Hackman decided he’d had enough with the world of Hollywood. There is often talk about her returning to the world of singing, but as a busy mother, wife and entrepreneur, it would be remarkable if she found the time to record a new album.

Hayden Christensen – Farmer

Hayden Christensen hit the big time when he was cast as Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise in the noughties. He is currently engaged to Rachel Bilson with whom he has a child.
