The Hottest Trends on the 2020 Oscars Red Carpet

The power of pink

Various shades of pinks popped on the carpet thanks to Sunrise Coigney, Julia Butters (in Christian Siriano), Idina Menzel (in J. Mendel) and Regina King (in Atelier Versace).

Back to black

Rooney Mara (in Alexander McQueen), Penélope Cruz (in Chanel), Charlize Theron (in Dior Haute Couture), Margaret Qualley (in Chanel), Margot Robbie (in Chanel) and Geena Davis (in Romona Keveža) all stuck to the “black tie” dress code in their dark ensembles.

Pink-and-black colorblocking

There were pink dresses, there were black gowns, and then there were pink and black moments on the red carpet! Laura Dern (in Armani Privé), Caitriona Balfe (in Valentino) and Gal Gadot (in Givenchy Haute Couture) mixed the two top trends into one look.

Colorful earrings

Rubies, emeralds and diamonds, oh my! Maya Rudolph (in Lorraine Schwartz), Lily Aldridge (in Bulgari), Kaitlyn Dever (in Harry Winston) and Olivia Colman (in Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry) all brought a pop of color to their statement earrings.

Couture capes

Maya Rudolph (in Valentino) and Brie Larson’s (in Celine) capes provided extra sparkle, while Natalie Portman’s Dior Haute Couture cape served up a strong message - it was embroidered with names of female directors snubbed by the Academy. And Kaitlyn Dever’s Louis Vuitton stole brought a strong statement to her look, and was also made of sustainably-sourced fabric.

Hottest hair accessories

Whether donning pearl hair part accents (Lucy Boynton), oversize hair pins like Rebel Wilson (in a Kitsch x Justine Marjan pin) or Salma Hayek-Pinault, or Saorise Ronan (in a Gucci pin) they all had fun with their hair looks.
