Autographed Michael Jordan sports card has sold for over £1m

***EXCLUSIVE*** A 24-year-old autographed Michael Jordan sports card has sold for over £1m ($1.4m) at auction - setting a new world record. The rarity is one of only 23 in existence and not only carries the basketball star's signature in thin blue marker, it also has a sample of the jersey he wore in the 1992 NBA all-star game. The 1997 Upper Deck Game Jersey card sold with Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas, on Friday morning, making it the most expensive Jordan card ever sold at auction. The card was graded as near mint condition.

Syrian builds scale model of ancient Palmyra in Aleppo

Syria, Al Bab: Picture shows Ali Alsaleh, 58, smiling at his workshop, where the internally displaced Syrian from Palymra is building a large scale model of the ancient city of Palmyra out of wood and gypsum. Alsaleh worked as a part of an excavation team for 25 years at the Palmyra historical site before its capture and partial destruction at the hands of the so-called Islamic State (IS) terror group. Alsaleh estimates a build time of six months before his model goes on display.
